Oswald Krauss was an Obersturmbannführer (Lieutenant Colonel) in the Waffen-SS during World War II. He was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross, which was awarded to recognize extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership during World War II.

Obersturmbannführer Oswald Krauss was awarded the Knight's Cross on the 27 January 1945, while in command of the 15th SS Cavalry Regiment SS Cavalry Brigade. He was killed in action on the Hungarian Front in the attempted breakout from the encirclement of Budapest.[1][2]
